MtG: Archenemy
$19.99 SRP

You’ve played Magic one-on-one. You’ve played it in a free-for-all. But have you ever wanted to just throw down the gauntlet against all your friends at once? Have you ever wanted to take on the whole world and show them who’s boss?

Well, now you can! Archenemy is the first “One vs. Many” multiplayer product. With a deck of twenty oversized cards to beef up your favorite deck, you’ll be ready to face off against as many of your friends as your kitchen table can hold. Two? Three? Twenty? Bring ‘em on! Here you rule!

On June 18, become the Archenemy. There will be four different game packs, each one with a 60-card Magic deck featuring eight rares, and a 20-card oversized deck.

Following in the tradition of Planechase™, each Archenemy game pack will come with unique oversized cards and a 60-card Magic deck packed with exiting reprints from throughout Magic’s history.  Like Planechase, there are 4 different game packs. Unlike Planechase, the game format is “all vs. 1″ instead of “Free for All.”  One player in the game is the Archenemy, and everyone else in the game bands together to try to thwart their evil scheme.

Contents:
20 Oversized Archenemy scheme cards
1 60-card magic deck with 8 rare cards
1 Strategy insert
1 Magic “Learn to Play” guide

Magic : The Supply Curve = Basic Economics

Posted in Editorial, Magic the Gathering : MTG on September 30th, 2009 by Jeff
The river floweth…For those retailers who have survived the drought since Mage Knight peaked and Pokemon fell into oblivion in the Midwest 8-10 years now. Enjoy the ride!! for these never last long enough! and it seem to come every 7 years…. and then fades

My industry sources have hinted that this run is just a normal size opening block run for a main block printing…

So what might this mean??? WotC Production has not been able to hire more operators and increase film and card roll stock inventories to be able to run more shifts. Just means they would be done quicker with the run. Since the supplies lead time lags the ordering and production cycle (Prior Life I was a Packaging Engineer dealing with films (BAGS) and (Wet) industrial food processing)

The next factor is WotC upper echelons fear a bubble forming and that the current growth is a blip, remember only a few of them have the experience with what magic did the last time with Alliances at Triple Retail back around 1995.

Next everyone fears a flop set that will sit for 10 years (yes this has happened before and yes 2 in a row) and then 3 Samurai sets that did poorly….

But what I have to say is “WHAT!!! Wizards was thinking with inserting Vintage Power Cards at a peak in their sales” is this????? insane or genius……
More players means more $$$ means better stores with better stock levels… Means higher demand means higher prices means singles are worth something!

Good stores will prosper where minor stores will pop and fade
 IMHO,

So enjoy the ride, buy all the Zendikar you can 1st wave and put some away for the product drought that will inevitably follow this wave of Game Store Prosperity.

This all means larger events. larger community, and increased exposure for the whole Game Industry. It also means Gas Stations will Want Magic like Pokemon if the fever continues…

MAGIC TREASURE NEWS FLASH – VINTAGE MAGIC IN ZENDIKAR!

Posted in Events, Magic the Gathering : MTG on September 25th, 2009 by Jeff

LATEST NEWS – ZENDIKAR HAS VINTAGE TREASURE!

BlackLotusSome Zendikar Booster have Vintage Treasure!

As verified by several sources including WotC Staff there are Vintage Magic cards that replace the common lands in some Zendikar Booster Packs!

From reports from online sources there are some of the greatest treasures of Magic included in a small fraction of the Zendikar boosters. Reports have included such cards as Time Walk, Mox Jet, Lich, Dual Lands and other Vintage Magic treasures. These cards are NOT REPRINTS – they are cards from the Wizards of the Coast Vaults that they have decided to share with the loyal magic players across the planes.

New tournament rules have been published dealing with this treasure – they may NOT be played in Limited Format events (such as prereleases and drafts) and a random land will be used to replace these special cards during all Zendikar Limited format events.

This is just one more reason to come in for the prerelease this weekend!

What Treasure lies in Zedikar? The only way to find out is to come to CAVGames and play!
